Job Title:  Westside Community Schools Skilled Support Specialist/Behaviors - District Wide - Full time 10 month

 

Department: Special Services

 

Direct Accountability:  Director of Special Services and Building Principal

 

Job Summary:

The Skilled Support Specialist will provide:

Education Level and Certification:

Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma or GED required.

 

Experience:

Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the possession of a Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in psychology, social work, counseling, or special education will be considered; previous experience in special education and working with at-risk students or students who are demonstrative of disruptive behavior required. Training in Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is highly desirable. 

 

Special Qualifications:

Knowledge of appropriate behavioral intervention strategies; laws, rules and regulations of acceptable behavioral intervention, including de-escalation and personal safety techniques; interpersonal skills needed to manage crisis situations; resiliency, unquestioned integrity, and a commitment to the mission and values of the Westside Community School District.
